GB/T 32614-2023 Outdoor sportswear—Water-resistant garment

The national standard GB/T 32614—2023 Outdoor sportswear—Water-resistant garment was issued on September 7, 2023, and came into effect on April 1, 2024.

Compared with the 2016 version, the main changes are as follows:

Compared with the previous version, the new standard fully considers consumers’ wearing needs in its indicators. It adds safety items, raises the requirements for moisture vapor transmission rate and abrasion resistance, making the standard more reasonable and compliant. It clarifies the assessment scope of certain indicators and adds a hydrostatic pressure test method for elastic fabrics, improving the operability of the standard. For other changes in the new standard, please refer to the officially published text.

6 Test methods
6.1 Test methods for inherent quality

6.1.1 Fiber content
Shall be determined in accordance with GB/T 2910 (all parts), GB/T 38015, FZ/T 01057 (all parts), FZ/T 01026, etc.

6.1.2 Formaldehyde content
Shall be determined in accordance with GB/T 2912.1.

6.1.3 pH value
Shall be determined in accordance with GB/T 7573.

6.1.4 Odor
Shall be determined in accordance with GB 18401.

6.1.5 Detectable carcinogenic aromatic amines from azo colorants
Shall be determined in accordance with GB/T 17592.

6.1.6 Perfluorooctane sulfonyl compounds (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA)
Shall be determined in accordance with GB/T 31126.

6.1.7 Dimensional change after washing
Three test specimens shall be taken from the sample and tested in accordance with GB/T 8630.
The washing procedure shall be carried out in accordance with the 4N program of Type A washing machine specified in GB/T 8629-2017.
"Standard detergent 3" shall be used as the washing agent. The drying procedure shall be hanging drip drying. The number of washing cycles shall be one.
The arithmetic mean of the three specimens shall be taken as the test result. If both shrinkage and elongation results occur simultaneously, the arithmetic mean of the two specimens showing the same type of change (both shrinkage or both elongation) shall be taken as the test result. The final result shall be rounded in accordance with GB/T 8170, retaining one decimal place.

6.1.8 Pilling resistance
Shall be determined in accordance with Parameter D of GB/T 4802.1-2008.

6.1.9 Abrasion resistance
Shall be determined in accordance with GB/T 21196.2, using wool abrasive cloth. The total effective mass of the friction load shall be (595 ± 7) g (nominal pressure 9 kPa).

6.1.10 Tear strength
Shall be determined in accordance with GB/T 3917.2.
